I bundled up the other day and went out in the woods to take some nature photos. It's been getting very cold here, bbrrrr...I really do not like the cold. Alan went with me so I wouldn't get lost :D Taking a "time-out" to enjoy nature is definitely worth it--I highly recommend it to everyone. Just make sure you dress for the weather. Even if its just 10 minutes, go outside and really look at all the beauty that is there. Hope you enjoy these:

Drummond Island
Back in October we had the opportunity to spend the weekend in Drummond Island, MI . My son's best friend lives on the island so we try to get up that way a couple times a year. It was a pretty chilly weekend, but we made the best of it. We stayed at the Drummond Island Resort...very nice hotel.
The room we stayed in has a loft so I was able to get this shot of Emma. Some pictures of the inside of the hotel:Deer in the back of the hotel. If you ever get the chance to go to Drummond Island you have to stop by the Gourmet Galley. They have a great selection of a little bit of everything. If you have a hard time finding the Gourmet Galley just look for this boat . It sits in their side yard :DPretty leaf I seen during a walk...

This n That
Thank you to everyone that sent birthday wishes my way today. Yes, today I turned 38!! Yikes, how did that happen??? It's been a great day. Alan and Emma baked me a cake...can't wait to try it.
I attended a photo seminar in Grand Rapids last night. It was a 90 minute drive each way. Not so bad on the way down, but a bit of a bummer on the drive back. Didn't make it home until 11:30, but it was certaintly worth it. The title of the seminar was "The Class Every Bride Wants You To Take" given by Michael Barton. Learned a lot and met some great people. I finally got to meet Kari Douma from Grand Rapids. I knew of Kari through my photo forum, but we had never met until last night. She is such a talented photographer, it was nice to finally meet her in person.
Today I applied to Mike Colon's (www.mikecolon.com) workshop to attend for free. He has ONE opening at his January workshop for a mom to attend. He is an outstanding photographer. His work is beyond words. Check out his site and prepare yourself to see outstanding photography. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll pick me...I'm sure there are lots of mom's applying, but a girl can hope. I can't even imagine how awesome it would be to attend his workshop......

One Light Workshop
So, for a couple months now I've been reading about this great photographer, Zack Arias, who offers fantastic workshops on lighting. I've been checking his site (www.onelightworkshop.com) periodically to see where he would be presenting. A couple weeks back he added Detroit to his schedule for April. Well, I kept putting off signing up because it was months away. Last night I checked the site to see how many spots were left and there was one. Yes, that's right ONE!! I couldn't believe it. I dashed off an email to register. I was hoping that no one got their email in before me. It was 7p.m. at night so I really didn't expect to hear from them until today. To my complete suprise my phone rang 30 minutes later and it was Meghan with One Light calling to tell me I got the last spot. I started doing my happy dance around the house with the news. My poor family thought I had finally lost my mind. I'm so excited about this opportunity to learn from Zack Arias and just had to share my excitement with all my friends. If your interested in attending one of Zack's workshops check out his site...he offers workshops all over the U.S. :D

Scrapin Frenzy
Went to an all day scrapbooking event today. Wow!! I got so many pages done. 19 to be exact. Of course, I still have over a year of pictures to catch up on, but it sure felt good to get so much done. My friends Valerie Schultz and Amy Bilyea scrapped with me. It's great to have the opportunity to scrapbook AND visit with friends...life is good
Alan took this pic for me when he stopped by to say hi. He done a great job.
That's Valerie on the left, then Amy, and then yours truly.
Couple pics of my scrapin mess:

Girls Scouts Climb the Walls
My Girl Scout Troop (yep, I'm a troop leader) went to Eagle Village to climb the walls. We were joined by another local troop. They were able to do an individual climb and then they had to do a team climb where they were tethered together and one of the climbers were blindfolded. The girls had a blast!
